Swimming Lessons

I never talk about myself
I’m not one to gloat!
Not much of a swimmer
Maybe why I missed the boat.

One day we’ll sit in the sands
And have a real conversation.
Talk about a potential future
And a whole lot of mental stimulation.

Not just the obvious but
Everything that should be included.
Marriage, kids and anything else we
Can talk about on an island that is secluded.

That chance is slowly slipping
Sadly watching the boat sail away.
Still holding on to the slim chance
That you will teach me to swim one day!
